Small Groups
Small groups, where we meet to fellowship and to study God's word, are a powerful means for building relationship in the Body of Christ.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
     1 Thessalonians 5.11

Small Groups in History
After Jesus ascended to Heaven and gave the Holy Spirit to his disciples, they met daily in the Temple courts for teaching and in their homes for fellowship.  Historically the most common place for a church to begin meeting was in someone's home.  How fitting, because the home is where we first learn relationships, and above anything else, the church is about relationship - between God and man, and among men.

The work of small groups
We meet in fellowship to study some aspect of God's word.  We meet to learn together.  Also as we meet, we share of our lives and pray for one another, rejoicing in the blessings and sharing in the pain that each of us experience as part of life.  In doing so, we encourage one another in our walk of faith with God, that we would "...all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the measure of the fullness of Christ."  Eph 4.13

Small groups at Woodbury
At Woodbury, we use the Alpha Course as a primary course of study for our small groups.  This course introduces the basics of the Christian faith as a review for those who have been in the faith for a while, and as learning for those who have recently come into the Christian faith.  We also have small groups for special purposes, such as the College Connection for adults in late teens through mid-20s, and Y-Zone for high school and middle school students.
