Dear Church Family,
One of my favorite quotes is from E.M. Bounds, "Prayer can do anything that God can do."
We're entering into a special season of prayer
at Woodbury. For the first 10 days in May we're going to have a prayer
gathering every day. With Christians around the world we'll be
participating in the "Global Day of Prayer"
emphasis -- and exciting move of God. We'll also be praying for God's
guidance and strength in this crucial and pivotal time in our life
together as a church. We very much want every member and friend of the
congregation to participate in this season of prayer. There are four
primary ways you can get involved.
1. Host: We need at least 7 people who will open their homes for one
night to host a prayer gathering. (The Sunday gatherings will be at the
church. A community wide prayer gathering will be held May 1 at Legacy
Middle School.) Just run the vacuum, provide some light ref reshments
and invite your friends and fellow church members to come to your home
and pray.
2. Lead: Lead a prayer gathering in your home, or the home of someone
else. (The host doesn't have to be the leader, but it's okay if she or
he does lead.) We will provide a simple outline to follow. If you've
never done anything like this before, it's a great opportunity for you
to grow in your discipleship. And I'll be glad to work with you before
hand in any ways I can. Most gatherings will start at 7:00 PM, but you
can be flexible with the time to meet your schedule. (There's probably
someone else whose schedule is like yours!)
If you would like to host or lead a prayer gathering, contact Debbie Bensey and copy me.
3. Attend at least one prayer gathering. Our goal is for every member a
nd friend of the church to attend at least one of these prayer
gatherings. The whole meeting will take about an hour (including
fellowship time). Praying together is an amazing way to grow closer to
your fellow church members and to Christ. Set aside a night or two
right now and plan to join us in prayer. Sign up sheets will be
available at the church.
Thank you for participating in this prayer emphasis. In a separate note
I'll explain how the Lord led us to this event. I think you'll see the
hand of God in it. It's really cool. I love serving Christ with you!
